Summer in the Spirit of the [Wild] Goose
For the last several years, people from our Well community have traveled to the beautiful hills of Hot Springs, North Carolina to experience the sense of community & spiritual rejuvenation inspired by the Wild Goose Festival. Often referred to as "the Goose", the festival offers opportunities for connection, practice & learning around spirituality, social justice, music & art. Everything takes place outdoors and includes a variety of voices & perspectives.
We have loved the "spirit" of the Goose, and since it was canceled this year due to COVID-19, we wanted to see if there would be a way for us to create some gatherings here that could help us experience some of what has been nourishing about the festival each year.
So, put on your dreaming hat and consider helping us gather in the spirit of the Goose. What might you want to lead or facilitate or share or host? A gathering to discuss the spirituality of Mary Oliver's poetry? A conversation about creative ways to practice creation care or to grow your own food? A book discussion? A kayaking outing? A spirituality or social justice-themed storytelling event? Something else way wackier or more practical or out-of-the-box? Tell us about it! You can look here to see what kinds of gatherings have taken place at the Goose. It can be a one-time offering or something you'd like to do weekly.
If you are interested in hosting or facilitating a gathering sometime between June 15th and July 31st, please fill out *this Google form with your idea and how we can support you in making it happen. Please submit by June 5th if possible (yes, we know that's super soon!). Once we have dates confirmed, we'll put together our calendar, then share & invite our larger community to join in.
Whether you are willing to help us host or lead or just want to join in, we hope to see you in some capacity soon!
*You'll notice on the form an option for hosting "small, in-person gatherings, as permitted". Our Well Regathering Group is continuing to monitor COVID trends in our community and will adjust accordingly, but we are hoping to begin some small in-person gatherings in June with precautions in place. You may choose to host your gathering virtually (via Zoom, GoToMeeting, etc.) or indicate that you only want to host an in-person gathering if permitted.
