Another new beginning

2015The beginning of the calendar always feel like a fresh start.  Although the church year began with Advent, there is still a sense of anticipation that comes with flipping the calendar to January.  We wonder what this year will bring, how we will change and grow, and what will unfold in and through us.Here is how we are beginning our year together at The Well.January will be all about new beginnings. While we will continue our Sunday evening (5 p.m.) worship gathering time, we will no longer share a meal each week.  Instead, we will begin community worship at 5 p.m. at St. John's (1950 Silver St.)  We will explore scripture, hear stories about how those in our community are seeing God, sing, pray and share communion together.  As we begin 2015, we are also becoming more intentional about finding space to resume Sunday morning gatherings. This Sunday, January 4th will begin several months of moving through the Gospel of Mark.  I can't think of a better place to begin this new year than by hearing (and re-hearing) the good news of Jesus' life, death & resurrection from start to finish. I pray it will give us fresh perspectives and will enliven our callings as followers of the Way.Beginning January 14th, we will host a vision board workshop on 3 consecutive Wednesday nights (1/14, 1/21, 1/28) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the L’Arche Harbor House Blanchart Community Center (700 Arlington Road North). Residents of L'Arche will be invited to join us. A vision board is simply a visual representation or collage of who you want to be and where you want to go in the days ahead. A vision board can encourage and inspire you to make changes that match your unique hopes, dreams and desires. It consists of a poster or foam board with cut-out pictures, drawings and/or writing on it. Through choosing words and images, arranging them and placing the board in a visible place, you will create compelling reminder of your vision.  Poster board, glue and words/images will be provided. If you prefer to use a special material for your board, please bring it with you. Boards can be created to represent your individual vision or your vision as a couple or family. During the final workshop, we will be creating a board to represent our community vision for the coming year. This is such a great time to join in or re-join in all that is happening through our community!  Wherever your journey takes you, we pray  God will continue to shape, stir and bless you in the year ahead.
